People with a passion for specific issues and want to deep dive into actions they can take to promote change have formed into teams at SCVA-NOW. They steer our agenda and launch actions that can involve our entire membership. Leaders from each team make up the Advisory Board, which meets monthly. Currently there are three active teams.
Political Engagement Team
PET members doggedly follow our legislators and their legislation, speak up when they see bills to oppose or support, and are involved in recruiting and training members to get involved in local and state issues. Our sister organization, We Can Change the World, a Minnesota Political Committee, works to support and elect specific candidates.
We often ask members to make phone calls to legislators, send postcards, or attend events and protests. PET also works with other NOW chapters, like-minded grassroots organizations and Indivisible chapters, the League of Women Voters, and Sustainable Stillwater.
