Annual Lobby Day – Protect Minnesota

Protect Minnesota’s annual Lobby Day will be on Thursday, February 14, the first anniversary of the Parkland school shooting. Participants will meet with their elected representatives to deliver “Broken Hearts Valentines” and encourage their support for expanded criminal background checks and passing the Red Flag law. Then at 2:30pm we’ll gather with students from MN March For Our Lives in the Rotunda to commemorate the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida.
FIRST THINGS FIRST

SCHEDULE ON FEBRUARY 14
9 am-1 pm: Participants arrive at Christ on Capitol Hill Church, 105 University Ave W, in St. Paul, for training one hour or more before their first appointment. Training will begin every hour on the hour. After training, participants will go in a group with a guide to meet with their legislators.
10 am: Press Conference in the Press Conference Room in the basement of the Capitol. Please attend unless it is during your training/meeting times.
2:30 pm: Parkland Commemoration and Rally in the Rotunda.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!
We’ll give you all the information you need to talk with your legislators with confidence.
We need volunteers! If you can help between 8am-noon or noon-4pm, email firstname.lastname@example.org. She’ll need to know your name, address, email, phone number, and which shift you’d prefer to work. Also, let her know if you are willing to be a volunteer guide around the Capitol complex.
PARKING AT THE CAPITOL
There is very little parking at Christ on Capitol Hill Church. For parking options, go to https://mn.gov/admin/citizen/buildings-grounds/parking/. Also, consider taking the Metro Green Line to Capitol/Rice Street Station.
